American statesman and US Founding Father Benjamin Franklin once said that “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” Investing in proper education doesn’t just help improve one’s financial situation in the future, but it also makes your mind richer.
However, in reality, education can be costly. For some Filipinos, earning a college degree is simply a hard goal to pursue. There are a lot of promising young minds who, unfortunately, have to give up schooling just to help out with their family’s finances.
With that in mind, Ang Tulay ng PaMLyang Pilipino, M Lhuillier, continues to come up with meaningful projects to somehow help deserving students reach their potential.
M Lhuillier OPEC Green Valley recently launched the “Piso Para sa Pangarap” project. It is a fundraising initiative that aims to help beneficiaries achieve their dreams of getting a college diploma without worrying about financial obligations. The OPEC team received donations from its loyal clients through coin cans that they set up in M Lhuillier branches throughout their area.
Led by Regional Manager Marlon Bangay and OPEC President Ruben Gapuz Jr., the group chose four indigent first-year college students from public tertiary schools to become scholars. Funds from the project will cover all their school fees and allowances until they finally finish college. The scholars just have to maintain outstanding academic performances.
